Regular training and practice is not the only way to improve your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. There are many habits you can adapt into your everyday life which will allow you to improve your body and therefore your Jiu Jitsu ability. To see major results in your Jiu Jitsu capability, healthy lifestyle is key.
Below are just a few of the habits you can adapt to improve your Brazilian jiu jitsu capability.
1) Healthy and Regular Sleep Schedule
Although this might seem very basic, sleep is crucial to improving your jiu jitsu. Having a good sleeping pattern and getting a healthy amount of sleep each night allows your body to be fully rested and your brain to be more focused when training. Going to sleep and waking up at the same time each day is fundamental to having energy throughout the day. Having good sleep also allows you to retain more information throughout the day and remember those key techniques from class!
2) Keep a Healthy Diet
When it comes to keeping a healthy diet when training, the key is to keep it simple! Although there are lots of buzz around certain diet trends such as “protein only” diets, for the best results keep your diet healthy and full. Staying hydrated, cutting out fizzy drinks and coffee and eating foods which are high in protein and healthy fats are key to keeping your body in top training condition. When it comes to training, it is also important to remember that when you are burning calories while on the mats or in the gym, you need to eat a lot more to keep your body fueled to keep on training.
3) Stress Relief
Stress can have negative affects on every part of your life, including your Jiu Jitsu training. Although it is known that exercise is one of the best ways to relieve stress, its important to build up stress relievers that you can also use when you are off the mats. Finding simple routines to help you relax in your spare time is key, whether this be reading, taking a hot bath or going for walks.
4) Have Clear Attainable Goals
Having clear attainable goals will not only help you improve but also focus your training and give you something to motivate you. These people are key to enhancing your internal drive to succeed and keeping you focused on improving.
Learning how to take care of yourself outside of training will allow your Jiu Jitsu to improve. A healthy lifestyle will keep you more energetic, happy, and motivated in your training.
