Who is hosting the summer camp?
Atlantic Jiu Jitsu Sligo will be hosting the camp. Organised by BJJ Black belt, Ryan Smyth and the Atlantic team, who will be in attendance each day to both learn and offer any assistance needed by any of the attendees.
How long does the summer camp run for?
The camp will run for 4 days – 2nd- 5th August (Friday to Monday on the Bank Holiday Weekend)
How long is each session and what will be covered in them?
Over the 4 day period, there will be 2 training sessions per day lasting 1.5hrs with 7 overall sessions. Except, on August 3rdthere will be one session, a seminar lasting 3 hours. These sessions will include drilling, technical practice, sparring, etc,. The aim of this summer camp is to provide you with world class training with a technical master, Maxamilllian Schneider.
How much does the summer camp cost?
The full camp costs €200 for all 4 days or €60 for one day. Individual days can be booked. All places must be pre-booked, this camp will sell out fast!
Where is the Camp?
The camp will take place at Atlantic Jiu Jitsu, located at Unit 9b, Cleveragh Business Park, Sligo.

Is the camp open to people from other clubs?
Yes everyone is welcome! At Atlantic Jiu Jitsu, we love training with many other clubs as we can all learn from each other. The camp is open to anyone from other clubs who would like to learn from one of the best upcoming Jiu Jitsu stars of the moment!
Where can I get accommodation over the duration of the camp?
There are plenty of accommodation options available to avail of in Sligo, from hotels, apartments, B&B’s etc.

What other camps have Atlantic Jiu Jitsu hosted?
Atlantic Jiu Jitsu have hosted a number of BJJ camps with some of the greatest practitioners in the world. Including hosting Reubens “Cobrinha” Charles, Romero “Jacaré” Cavalcanti, Lucas Lepri, Bruno Malfacine, Isaac Doederlien, Michael Langhi, Jon Thomas and Espen Mathiesen.
RULES OF THE MAT AT ATLANTIC JIU JITSU
MAT GUIDELINES
- Greet fellow students upon entering the mat.
- Use respectful language and behaviour, especially around minors. Please refrain from curse/swear words at the academy.
- Before stepping foot on the mat, make sure to have your entire Gi on as well as a properly tightened belt.
- Do not remove Gi tops or rash guards in the mat and lobby area. Use the changing area provided.
- Make sure you take your shoes off before entering the mat.
- Be on time to class. If you happen to arrive late, wait at the entrance to the mat till the instructor says it’s okay for you to join.
- Refrain from chatting while the instructor is talking.
- No mobile phone on the mat during class.
- No picture or video taping the classes
- No food or gum on the mat.
- Notify the instructor if you need to leave class early.
- When the instructor assigns a task, continue doing that task until the instructor says otherwise. You can never drill a technique too many times
- Put shoes on immediately upon exiting the mat. This holds true even if you’re just going to the bathroom.
Sparring Guidelines
- Always respect your training partner and shake/touch hands before and after the roll.
- Only apply as much force as needed. Never intentionally harm anyone.
- Follow the IBJJF Rules for allowed submissions.
- Don’t jump to guard or apply flying attacks or standing submissions.
- The mats will be busy – be very aware of the surrounding space and avoid crashing into nearby training partners.
- Roll with those closest to your weight class.
HYGIENE
- Maintain good hygiene (i.e., shower and brush your teeth regularly).
- Wash your gear (gi, rash guards, knee sleeves and/or shorts) after every training session. This not only keeps you smelling clean, but it also prevents the spread of infectious skin diseases.
- Keep finger and toe nails short and clean to prevent injury to yourself and others.
- Do not attend class if you are sick, or have a skin infection (Ringworm, Athletes foot, Staph etc…). You will be asked to leave class if you are found to have any of the aforementioned aliments.
- Keep shoes off the mat, so we can prevent the spread of infectious skin diseases. Wear shoes /sandals when off the mat.
UNIFORM RULES
Gi Jiu Jitsu Training:
- A Jiu Jitsu Gi must be worn for all Gi classes
- Gi Must be clean and rip Free
- Wear rashguard under Gi at all times
- Gi’s may be white, blue or black ONLY! No other colours permitted.
Jacket must be the same colour as pants. - A Judo Gi or Karate Gi is unsuitable for Jiu Jitsu Training
- Do not remove Gi jacket before training has finished
- Do not wear the same Gi for two classes in a row.
- Change only in changing areas, not in main hall
- Mouth guards are recommended
- Groin Guards are not allowed
- Flip flops or shoes must be worn at ALL TIMES when off the mats
No-Gi Jiu Jitsu Training:
No-Gi Jitsu is conducted without the Gi (Jiu-Jitsu Uniform).
All students are required to wear:
- A Ranked colour Rashguard at least 10% of your rank colour
- Board shorts must be worn
- Grappling leggings can be worn under shorts
- No hot-pants or singlets
- No loose-fitting t-shirts or tank-tops
- Shorts must not have zips or pockets.
Gi and No-Gi Training
- Mouth guards are recommended
- Groin Guards are not allowed
All training equipment can be purchased directly from Atlantic Jiu-Jitsu. Simply ask at the front desk in our facility to order any items or to ask for advice on your training clothing.
